Laser hair removal is a cosmetic procedure that uses concentrated light beams to target and eliminate hair follicles, reducing or preventing hair growth in the treated area. During our laser treatments, we release a short pulse of light which is selectively absorbed by the melanin which is the pigment in the hair’s follicle. The light energy heats the pigment and effectively damages the hair follicle to inhibit future hair growth, without damaging the surrounding cells.
All areas on the body can generally be treated (subject to consultation) and can be found on our booking page.

FAQs
Q: Is Laser Hair Removal Permanent?
A: While it significantly reduces hair growth, results can vary, and maintenance sessions may be needed for long-term effects.
Q: Is Laser Hair Removal Painful?
A: The procedure may cause some discomfort, often described as a mild stinging or snapping sensation, but it is generally well-tolerated. Our Lynton Laser machine provides a cooling device to minimize the sensation of heat during treatment.
Q: How Many Sessions Are Typically Needed?
A: Multiple sessions are usually required for optimal results, as hair grows in different cycles, and treatment is most effective during the active growth phase. A course of 6-8 sessions is recommended, although more may be needed, and this differentiates between person to person.
Q: Can Anyone Undergo Laser Hair Removal?
A: While generally safe for many skin and hair types, individual suitability is best determined through the Consultation & Patch Test appointment with one of our therapists.
Q: Some Larger Chain Clinics Are Cheaper, Why Should I Book With You?
A: At Ivy, our client journey is at the forefront of what we do. We follow precise guidelines to ensure the treatment is safe, suitable and effective for you. We typically have a low turnover of staff, which helps you to receive continuity in your treatments to achieve the best results in less sessions.
Also, who doesn’t love to shop small and know you’re supporting a small business who pays staff above the National Living Wage!
Q: What If I Have Grey or Red Hair, Will This Work?
A: Unfortunately, no. The hair must still have pigment for the laser to be effective. Red hair is also difficult to treat, if the hair is closer to an auburn shade/closer to brown you may still achieve some hair reduction but it’s not guaranteed. You are best to book in for the Consultation & Patch Test appointment to assess your suitability.
Q: How Should I Prepare For A Laser Hair Removal Session?
A: Preparation includes avoiding sun exposure for a minimum of 4 weeks, shaving the treatment area after the initial consultation and discontinuing certain hair removal methods where hair is removed from the root, like waxing or plucking.
